The PAION Principle

PAION AG is a biopharmaceutical company focusing on the clinical development of drug candidates for diseases or interventions for which there is a substantial unmet medical need. After proof of concept in clinical trials the strategy is to out-license or co-develop the drug candidates with pharma partners.

Thus revenues can be generated at an early stage, decreasing development costs and risks. The company further profits from the receipt of payments for e.g. clinical development successes or market approval of the drugs as well as receiving royalties. Further income can be generated at a later point in time and from commercialisation activities.

The license agreement with our pharma partner Lundbeck, which came into effect January 2008, is a successful example of this strategy.
