Our Definition as Employer

As a company we want our innovations to be convincing and to shape medical progress. As an employer we want to inspire others to join us in this. For that reason we strive to create the right conditions where people can feel good and work successfully.

We are proud that all our employees contribute to a work environment based on trust, honest cooperation and mutual support. We know that working together is essential to achieving our goals - and we act accordingly. A good work environment results from everybody doing his or her part; it is both the duty and the reward of each individual colleague.

We are proud to live our values. They originated in the way we deal with each other every day, and have grown along with our company. You will not find our values in the form of written guidelines or glossy brochures. They are in all our processes, structures, procedures and above all: in our actions.

An Honour System of Flexible Working Times
PAION´s philosophy is that each PAIONeer is responsible for accomplishing his or her tasks and achieving his or her goals. For this reason our working times are flexible and on an honour system. Each employee determines when to start and to finish each working day, according to individual needs and taking corporate demands into account. This system shows that it is individual performance that counts, not working time.

Workplace Design
It is important to us that we offer pleasant surroundings and that our employees feel comfortable. We ensure that furnishings and equipment meet the most modern ergonomic standards and correspond to the individual preferences of our employees as well. A workplace is an expression of identity and personality. That's why you will find individually decorated offices, a bistro where you can enjoy your lunch break in a relaxed atmosphere as well as photos of our company celebrations and trips... and all this in the special charm of the PAION building - a former schoolhouse right in the middle of Aachen. Performance Appraisal Dialogs
At PAION, employee's success and performance are documented through fair feedback in our annual performance appraisals. The main objectives are to give feedback on the employee's current performance and to receive feedback from the employee with regard to assignments, conditions and work environment. During the dialog, targets and objectives are agreed upon and steps for professional development are planned.

Professional Development
We are serious about developing and supporting our employees in their personal and professional growth. Encouraging growth means offering training and continuing education, professional challenges and fair career opportunities - something we do actively. Social Contact Person
Talking to each other, not about each other is one of our core values. This is a principle we live by, even in difficult situations. To help us do this, we have implemented the concept of a "social contact person". This idea was born by our employees during a "future workshop". The social contact person is a PAION employee whom others can turn to when faced with personal or job-related problems. The social contact person is neutral. He or she listens carefully and helps colleagues to solve their problems on their own. In some cases, the contact person may also refer his or her colleague to an external mediator.
